Dropshipping food

Hello,

I would like to set up a drop shipping business with food products. The idea is to set up a virtual kitchen (a delivery-only concept that allows restaurants to launch an additional online restaurant using their existing kitchen and staff), and create an online business delivering products made by existing restaurants (such as a pizza place) by using delivery services (such as Thuisbezorgt and Uber eats).

The profit would come from the margins on the food delivered (that the restaurants would offer us at 40% of the regula price) and a diverse food offer coming from different restaurants. The key of our business model is having a strong marketing strategy, special offers during low seasons, and combining niche restaurants (e.g. only italian food) under one virtual restaurant name. Similar projects have been launched in US with great success, and we are looking into options to do the same here.

Questions:

- Have you heard of a similar business already running in The Netherlands'?

- What legal form would apply to such a business?

- Which would you recommend us to start from?

- Suggestions?

Since it will take a huge amount of money to get the app and marketing right, a BV would be the most logical choice.

 

Really, really, do a deep dive into your market. You are taking on thuisbezorgd and uber eats.

I recently watched some videos on youtube on this topic and id did not excite me one bit.

 

I feel that it is extremely hard to get food right if you have to include markups for platforms.

I guess it is hard to scale food production whilst retaining quality, especially at the affordable end of the spectrum.

 

If you include Joosts remarks, I'd say, go and try something else.

 

Then again, I am no chef or restaurateur, and you may be an expert ; )
