I am about to buy a house with an office space (it was originally a garage under the house) but I want to use it as a living space and possibly rent.

 

If I buy it now as an office space to convert later, I have to pay 8% tax above the price of that space, which is a lot!. How can I officially turn this place to a living space before signing the final deed in notary?  I can ask the current owner to cooperate if that is needed. 

 

By the way, we emailed the municipality and they are fine with it .

Other then that a part of your house is labeled as office space there is no relation to the focus of this forum of entrepreneurs.

Your best bet is asking the notary or the person helping you with the mortgage for the steps to take.
