Selling online wine - permit required?

Hello, 

 

We would like to have an online shop that sells wine all over Netherlands. There will be no physical shop, only online.

 

After checking the link below, it is still not clear to me if we require any kind of permit, especially for wines below 15% alcohol. Is that correct?\

 

For wines above 15% it is clear we need a "off-license" permit. If there is no physical shop, in which municipality do we check for permit? If we obtain it for one municipality, we can use it to sell all over Netherlands?

The first sentence of the article states exactly what you already figured. It is correct that you don't need a permit/license to sell alcoholic beverages with less than 15% alcohol.

 

One caveat is that you do need to check the age of your customers. You are not allowed to sell alcoholic beverages to people under the age of 18 years. You will have to be able to show that you do a decent age check, just a pop-up where the visitor of your webshop has to click on 'I am 18 years or older' will not do.

PostNL offers an age-check service ensuring the package will only delivered to a person over 18 years old. DHL has something similar. The surcharge for this service is about 1 euro per package. 

 

Besides that you'll have to at least have some system in place where people must indicate they are over the age of 18 since marketing alcoholic drinks to minors is not allowed.
