I am registered as a zzp'er and am considering expanding my business to hire staff. The information on the website is quite confusing!

 

Can I hire staff as a zzp'er or do I need a B.V.? How do I know how much payroll tax to hold back? (The table I found was also very confusing).

 

I'm considering hiring a business advisor to help me set it up, does anyone have any advice or recommendations?

Yes, as a zzp you are officially a sole proprietor. I could not find the English version but on this partnersite of HL you will find useful information concerning hiring staff.

The Magic Word is: “loonadministratie” (payroll administration). You probably have to outsource that, since there are a lot of rules concerned.

 

And you need a “loonheffingennummer” in order to account for the (payroll) taxes and premiums.

You have to apply for that yourself (in advance).
